Sitting Easy

TAD Volunteer Davy helped Janice, who had chronic pain from a bad back and knees, to modify her lounge and sofa bed. Janice had approached TAD after hearing about it from a friend.

“Davy was so easy to get along with. There was no fuss, he listened patiently and he knew what he was doing. I can’t thank him enough,” says Janice.

Essentially Davy’s task was to raise the lounge, lounge chair, dining chair and sofa bed so that Janice, who has had three spinal fusions, wouldn’t have to struggle to get in and out with her restricted mobility.

After spending some time with Janice and her husband, Robert, who has bad hips and is recovering from a stroke, Davy set about the task of adding at least 150mm to the height of the furniture. This was no straightforward task given that the solution had to be not only stable but aesthetically pleasing as well.

Janice couldn’t be happier with Davy’s solution, “tickled pink” in fact, with the 16 wooden legs for the sofa bed, lounge and lounge chair.

Janice says, “The work made a world of difference. I am in so much less pain now, all credit to Davy.”
