History of Frame Running in Australia

Frame Running is a growing and exciting form of adapted sports that allows individuals with disabilities to participate in running events. The activity originated in Denmark, where it was developed as a way to provide individuals with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions with the opportunity to participate in running events.

The first Frame Running events were held in Denmark in the 1990s, and the activity quickly gained popularity among athletes with disabilities. In 2001, the International Frame Running Association (IFRA) was founded to promote the growth and development of Frame Running, and to provide a platform for athletes to compete at the international level.

In 2010, Frame Running was recognized as a Paralympic sport by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), and made its debut at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. Since then, the popularity of Frame Running has continued to grow, with athletes from around the world competing in a range of events, including individual and team races in distances ranging from 100 meters to 5 kilometers.

In Australia, Frame Running has a relatively short but successful history. The first Frame Running events in Australia were held in 2010, and the activity quickly gained popularity among athletes with disabilities. In 2012, the Australian Race Running Association (ARRA) was founded to promote the growth and development of Frame Running in Australia, and to provide support for athletes who wanted to compete at the international level.

Since then, Frame Running has continued to grow in popularity in Australia, with athletes of all abilities participating in events around the country. In 2016, the Australian Frame Running team made its debut at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and has since competed in a number of international events.

Today, Frame Running is a thriving and inclusive community in Australia, with athletes of all abilities participating in events around the country. The activity is not only physically beneficial, but can also provide a sense of accomplishment and boost self-esteem. It can also be a social activity, providing opportunities for individuals with disabilities to meet and connect with others who have similar interests and experiences.

Overall, the history of Frame Running in Australia is one of growth and success, as the activity has evolved from a small-scale initiative to a thriving and inclusive community that is providing individuals with disabilities with new opportunities to participate in running events.
