Special Sharks birthday surprise for Jack

The Sharks made a very special presentation to fanatical fan Jack Bryant on his eighth birthday when his favourite player, Paul Gallen wheeled out his new Freedom Wheels bike – made especially for him by the volunteers at TAD Disability Services (TAD).

The Sharks partnered up with TAD to give Jack’s bike a Sharks theme and invited him to their final training session ahead of their game against the Knights. Then after watching training, the players came to meet a very excited birthday boy and signed his Sharks jersey before Gal unveiled his new bike.

The Freedom Wheels bikes are custom made for children with disabilities and have modifications made to give kids extra support while they ride. This builds confidence and lets them ride with friends and family for the first time. Some kids can’t walk but they can ride.

Chris Bryant, Jack’s father, said: “For the first time, thanks to TAD's Freedom Wheels program and the fantastic volunteers at TAD, Jack will be able to experience the fun and exercise benefits that his brothers and his eight-year old mates experience.”

Jack was speechless that he was meeting his heroes and getting their autographs even before Gal appeared with his new Cronulla Sharks Freedom Wheels bike, built specially for him. Then to top it off the whole team sang him happy birthday.

“And to have the extra surprise of being presented his bike by Paul Gallen and his other favourite players from the Sharks has made this a day that Jack will never forget. A big thanks to TAD and the mighty Sharks,” dad Chris said.
