Stable Finn

We had the pleasure to talk to Finn, a recent recipient of a Unique Solution made by Volunteer Jim.

Solve-TAD worked with Finn to make custom stabilising wheels to make his electric trike safer and prevent tipping.

Why did you originally reach out to Solve-TAD?
“After a lifetime of assuming I would never be able to ride because of my cerebral palsy, I learnt to ride an electric trike for the first time time at age 46. Trikes are prone to tipping, so I approached Solve-TAD to make my bike safer and more stable, after a series of tips, including a quite serious accident. I worked with an OT who gave me advice about my seat position and the crank size I was using, and Solve-TAD installed stabilising wheels custom designed by a Solve-TAD volunteer”.

How has your piece of Assistive Technology made a difference to your life?
“Since Solve-TAD installed the modification it had improved my experience of riding in every way. I now ride safely and confidently and am no longer worried I might tip when turning or going from a flat surface to a ramp. It has been over a year since the mod was installed and I have not had a single accident since. I am also a more confident and effective rider. The freedom, empowerment and enjoyment that riding has given me has enriched and improved my life in so many ways. I am incredibly grateful for the time and attention Solve-TAD gave me to recommend a solution that was effective, affordable, and that is easy for me to maintain. Thank you!”

Solve-TAD acknowledges the traditional owners of country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures and to elders past, present and emerging.
